A couple of days ago in the Suckless Mailing List somebody mentioned about Toki Pona, which got me curious about it.

Toki Pona is a constructed language, developed by Sinjia Elen Kisa. It is a very basic language that removes all complexity...

Ok, what does that means...

Well, that a lot of stuff that you use are not there, and most of the gist needs to be picked up by context.

Uh?

Well, let's see, in Spanish we have the word "sobre", which can mean either:

  • about
  • above
  • envelope
  • on
It depends on the context. However, in Toki Pona goes into an extreme.

Let's take the Toki Pona word "soweli". The word means any pretty land animal in the face of the earth that moves on land.

The way to know on what you're talking about is to know the context at the time of the conversation. Otherwise, there's no way in hades to know which critter you're speaking of being that it can be anything from a cat to a cow to a horse.

So far, I'm going through the vocabulary using flash cards. We'll see how I manage.

In Puerto Rico, this is how I feel 90% of the time...
Hector "El Macho" Camacho just got shot at the face tonight in Puerto Rico. He's currently in the Rio Piedras Medical Center in intensive care. The condition is serious.

I'm not a boxing follower and "El Macho" was never one of my favourites ones. However, nobody deserves to be shot at for no reason.

In Puerto Rico the "crime wave" have gone too long, too far and sadly, nobody in Puerto Rico and the United States have gotten the nuts to do something serious about it. Sad, but true.

Regardless... being that ranting will change nothing; I can only hope the best outcome for him and inner peace to his family and friends.
