I can read!
Jan. 10th, 2013 11:06 pmDude, I can read this stuff!
I just went to Tatoeba in which contains sentences in different languages. I went through the list of available languages and it seems that the most represented are English and Esperanto. Spanish is also one of the most popular on the list.
I continued down the list. I saw some of the usual suspects: Ido, Interlingua, Klingon and of course, Toki Pona.
So, I decided to give it a go and see how much I can understand from the phrases that have been written by others. Well, it seems, that I am doing fairly ok.
Ok... at least a lot better than the first time I read something in Toki Pona. At first glance, it looked to me like word jumble.
Now... I have to go ahead and continue with Esperanto.
Anki, you are my hero!
Honestly, I could not have gone far learning Toki Pona and refreshing my Esperanto if it were not by the folks that made Anki. Anki is a flash card software that runs on Linux, Windows, Mac and Android. I used the desktop version to load the cards or gets cards from the communal repository. I then transferred the card decks to my phone. In this way, I can study whenever I get a chance.
Another thing I did was to import the Pandunia dictionary from their website as cards. But, for now, Pandunia is going to have to wait for a later time. What I will do is to share the deck into the communal repositories.
The repository has plenty of topics to choose from besides languages. These are free to download and use.
